With the focus on the future of beach soccer in Africa, a round table meeting was held yesterday in Sharm El Sheikh, involving CAF, Beach Soccer Worldwide and representatives from the eight National sides.

Samson Adamu, Director of Competitions, Josep Ponset, Beach Soccer Worldwide Director of Competitions and Ahmed Salem, CAF Beach Soccer Event Manager, sat down with the eight Team Managers of the Nations involved in the current edition of the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations to discuss what the future of beach soccer looks like in the continent, and what are the necessary steps to take in order to help it grow and achieve its potential.

Africa is a continent with huge possibilities, with thousands and thousands of kilometers of beach, a vibrant passion for football, and talented and strong athletes. With a proper plan, teams in this region can get to the highest level on the global beach soccer stage.

CAF and Beach Soccer Worldwide fully agree on that, and the connection between both entities is strong, as they share one common goal: making the most of the capacities and potential that African Beach Soccer has.

Josep Ponset, Beach Soccer Worldwide Director of Competitions thanked CAF for their continuing support and trust, as well as highlighting that "we will keep working together, because we firmly believe that Africa is a key region for the sport, with huge potential, and its development is a vital piece of our route map in the coming years".

Claude Barrabé, CAF's Technical Study Group Member and former CAF Beach Soccer champion as Madagascar National Coach, also referred to the Malagasy success story, and explained many of the strategies that can be followed to turn beach soccer into a strategic part of any Football Association.

In turn, the different team managers also presented their respective views and ideas, as well as expressing what were their own first priorities in terms of international competitions and domestic programs.

These meetings will keep on happening in the coming months, as CAF and Beach Soccer Worldwide will continue to work together to further develop the game in Africa.
