The former AC Milan midfielder who has long been absent from the national team believes he is now ready and fully fit to pull on the colors of the national team.
Strasser who has been active with the Portuguese side this season playing the majority of the second-tier Liga Pro matches hope to make a quick return and help the team secure a qualification berth in Cameroon.
A poor injury run has affected the 27-year-old which has been a major factor for his long absence and the former FC Kallon combative midfielder admitted that he decided to stay away because he was not 100% fit.
“Injury affected me a lot but I have already put that behind me, I am fit and I continue to work hard for Gil Vicente. My doors are open for any call but we’ll see what happens.”
Strasser last played for Leone Stars in May 2014 against Swaziland in Freetown during the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier where he dislocated his shoulder. He has over 8 international caps since making his debut on 5 September 2010 during the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations match against Egypt.
Sierra Leone are in Group F with the Black Stars of Ghana, Kenya, and Ethiopia for the group single qualification spot to the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon. Leone Stars will host Kenya in Freetown in June.
