Its mission? To share the excitement of GC2018 with the world. And who better a travel companion to showcase GC2018 and Australia than Tourism Australia, the Official Tourism Authority of GC2018 and the QBR international sector.
Home to approximately 2.4 billion citizens, the Commonwealth comprises of the world’s largest and smallest nations and territories. The Queen’s Baton will visit every single one over 288 days before spending 100 days in Australia.
Along this unforgettable journey the Baton will visit six of Tourism Australia’s key international markets including the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Singapore, India, New Zealand and Canada.
With 1.5 million sporting tickets up for grabs, the Games will be a significant driver of tourism. And as the Queen’s Baton shares its journey with a diverse and modern Commonwealth, it will put the Gold Coast, Queensland and Australia on the world stage.
The QBR takes a message from Her Majesty The Queen through the Commonwealth to the Opening Ceremony of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Tourism Australia was announced as the Official Tourism Authority of GC2018 and the QBR international sector at the unveiling of the Baton design in November last year.
Track the Baton’s journey and see where in the world it is from 13 March.
