Three of the Proteas leading batsmen, Chris Morris, David Miller and Temba Bavuma, took part in the 2nd edition of the Proteas Batting Masterclass at the Clifton Oval in Camps Bay, Cape Town.
The event was hosted by Audi South Africa, progressive partners to Cricket SA and the Proteas were put up to the test of their batting prowess. The challenge required them to take aim at selected targets placed around the oval and accumulate as many runs individually over the course of six overs each.
Through his win, Morris presented a cheque of R50,000 to the Nelson Mandela Foundation, a long standing beneficiary of Audi South Africa.
Chris Morris said: “It took me a while to get warm, but I had my eye on the 20 run target from the outset. When that came off, it was a game of catch up for Temba and Dave.”
Sello Hatang of the Nelson Mandela Foundation said: “We had a great afternoon in the name of a good cause with Audi and the Proteas. Madiba said that it’s not enough to be famous. One must use their fame for the greater good. These guys are masters of their trade and we are delighted with their efforts and commitment to our cause.”
