Ndumiso Mabena scored the only goal of the match on 80 minutes as ‘Dikwena’ completed a double over their Mozambican opponents, after a similar win in the first leg in Rustenburg last week.
Striker Luis Miquissone, top scorer in the Mozambican league last season was silent in the game as his side laboured in search of goals and victory to keep their continental hopes alive.
Ten minutes from time, Mabena scored the only goal from a quick counter attack by the visitors.
Chiquinho Conde (Head Coach, UD Songo)
Our opponent played better than us. They are active as the South African league is at the halfway mark, whilst the Mozambican league is yet to start. Till this moment, we played only nine friendly games to prepare. However, we were not inferior. We created some opportunities but we could not score. This is an experience and if we are to qualify for the same competition next year, we will do better.
Cavin Johnson (Head Coach, Platinum Stars
We had a lot of concentration in our goal area and I am happy with my players because they were patient with the situations. I am happy just with the result because we managed to control the game and we did it very well although we were missing six key players.
