Former paralympian Oscar Pistorius is allegedly eating out of tins out of fear that his food will be poisoned by other prisoners. According to a Daily Voice report on Wednesday, the convicted criminal has been threatened by other inmates in Kgosi Mampuru II prison.
Pistorius is currently being held in the hospital wing of the prison, where he is expected to serve his 5-year sentence for shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day in 2013. He was convicted of culpable homicide.
According to the report, the privileges afforded to Pistorius have gotten him on the bad side of other inmates. He is reportedly now able to have contact visits, have a radio in his cell, has had his phone call quota increased from 6 to 24 calls a year. He is also allowed take up a hobby and his allowance has reportedly been increased from R100 to R150. This after his prison status was upgraded.
