An offseason signing from Ukrainian power Shakhtar Donetsk, Ilsinho opened his MLS scoring account in style with a brace, leading Philadelphia to a dominant 3-0 victory over rival D.C. United at Talen Energy Stadium on Saturday. A Bronze medal winner with his native Brazil at the 2008 Olympics, Ilsinho has two goals scored and one assist in 14 matches played this season. Philadelphia now sits in second place in the Eastern Conference standings (29 points, 8-6-5), one point behind New York City FC with one game in hand.
The one-time UEFA Cup winner completed his brace right out the gate in the second half, as Ilsinho found himself alone with the ball off a deflected header inside the area and rocketed a shot into the back of the net to give Philadelphia a 3-0 advantage in the 47th minute (Watch Goal). The goal is one of eight nominated for AT&T MLS Goal of the Week.
Philadelphia next hosts New York Red Bulls at Talen Energy Stadium on Sunday, July 17 (7 p.m. ET, FS1/FOX Deportes).
