Veteran Sierra Leonean athletes in the United Kingdom are mourning the passing of British Coach John Sullivan who is said to have passed away in a London hospital on February 13th 2017.
Korjie further expressed that Coach Sullivan was one of the key figures responsible for guiding our national team to a couple of very few bright spots in Sierra Leone’s athletics history at the All African Games of 1991 where the 4x100 meters relay team won a Silver Medal and at the 1991 World University Games in Sheffield England where the 4x100 meters relay team finished in second place again for another Silver medal behind the USA.
Those moments have been far and few in between a long history of mediocrity of sports performance at the global level for Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leonean sports lovers and officials will like to thank Coach Sullivan for his unofficial service to our nation and are pleased to recognize him posthumously as a key figure in Sierra Leonean sports history.
Coach Sullivan will be sorely missed and May His Soul Rest in Peace.
