The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) on Thursday, 27 August 2015 signed the Organising Association Agreement (OAA) with Rwanda, hosts of the 2016 Orange African Nations Championship (CHAN), as the highlight of a visit by the CAF Inspection team in the country.

The signatories to the document, codifying the obligations of the parties and regulates the organizational details of the tournament scheduled from 16 January to 7 February 2016 are:

- Almamy Kabele Camara, CAF 2nd Vice President and president of the CHAN Organising Committee

- Julienne Uwacu, Minister of Sports and Culture, Rwanda

- Hicham El Amrani, CAF Secretary General

- Vincent De Gaule Nzamwita, president of the Local Organising Committee and the Federation Rwandaise de Football Association.

The signing of the OAA came after inspection visits to the competition venues in Kigali, Gisenyi in Rubavu District and Butare in Huye district.

The delegations of CAF and LOC, led respectively by Almamy Kabele Camara and Ms. Julienne Uwacu, were joined on Wednesday, 26 August 2015 in Butare by Rwandan Prime Minister, Anastasius Murekezi.

The Prime minister inquired about the progress of work at Butare Stadium and the training ground, and urged the contractors on site to complete outstanding works no later than the end of October.

CAF 2nd Vice President Kabele Camara, who visited the site last June remarked that there has been a “considerable advanced” progress on works at the facility.

Prime Minister Murekezi in a later audience with CAF 2nd Vice President Kabele Camara, opined that beyond the borders of the competition, the tournament will serve a moment of unity and feast in stadiums as places of socialization and celebration of the African youth.

The draw for the final tournament of the fourth edition of the Orange CHAN will be held on Wednesday, 18 November 2015 in Kigali, the capital, which will host two groups at the natural-grassed Amahoro Stadium and Nyamirambo Stadium, an artificial turf, just as Gisenyi.

In Butare, the artificial playing turf is ready but related works are ongoing.
