The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay partnership programme consists of three tiers, of which Presenting Partners—the highest tier—are permitted to recruit torchbearers and conduct promotional activities using the Olympic Torch Relay emblem.
Jun Sawada, President & CEO of NTT, commented: “NTT has been taking action to help ensure the success of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 as a Gold Partner in the category of Telecommunications Services, and has now concluded an agreement to be a Presenting Partner of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay. In this new role as well, we intend to make it the most innovative Relay in history through extensive use of the latest telecommunications services. In addition, as a Valued Partner with roots in all communities, we are going to create opportunities for participation by many people to heighten the excitement surrounding the Tokyo2020 Olympic Torch Relay in all of Japan’s 47 prefectural bodies, and strive to assure its success in many other ways.”
Yoshiro Mori, President of Tokyo 2020, commented: “We are pleased to welcome Nippon Life and NTT as Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay Presenting Partners. With the recruitment of these two companies, we now have all four Presenting Partners on board; their support constitutes the highest level of sponsorship for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay. This is the largest number of Presenting Partners in the history of the Olympic Torch Relay, and I greatly appreciate the support and encouragement of all of them. We are happy to receive the support of the two companies that have strong, widespread networks in Japan: NTT, which connects people through its communication services, and Nippon Life, which has provided peace of mind for Japanese people across the country for many years. With their help, we aim to deliver a safe and secure the Torch Relay, bringing excitement throughout Japan, and highlighting the unique characteristics of each region along the way.”
