Shane Kluivert, the nine-year-old son of retired Dutch soccer international Patrick Kluivert, has signed an endorsement deal with Nike.
The agreement sees the Paris Saint-Germain academy star become the youngest European athlete to be snapped up by the American sportswear giant, which has a talent identification department dedicated to scouting promising young players.

Despite his age, the youth prospect has already accumulated a large social media following on the back of his individual performances. His Instagram page is followed by 128,000 people, while a further 32,000 fans are tracking his progress on YouTube.
Shane’s father, Patrick, enjoyed a prosperous professional career with the likes of Ajax, AC Milan and Barcelona, while he also scored 40 goals in 79 appearances for his country. Now 41, the former striker’s 18-year-old son Justin made his Ajax debut in January and helped the Amsterdam-based club reach the final of the 2016/17 Europa League, where they were beaten 2-0 by English side Manchester United.
Kluivert announced the partnership on his Instagram account, and writing next to a picture of him signing his contract said: “Very proud signed my first contract with @Nike.”
