Casa Sport, losing finalist last year started the better side but could not create any legitimate opening. Instead, it was the capital-based side, Niarry Tally who threatened first through Abdoulaye Ndiaye, whose free-kick crashed off Yaya Mane’s post five minutes before the break.
The second half produced more attacking display from Niarry Tally who forced Casa to seat deep but failed to make use of their dominance as Ndiaye and Abdoulaye Ba failed to put the ball past Mane in goal.
Ba scored the opening goal on 80 minutes with a thunderous right-footed volley inside the opponent’s area following a quick move down the right channel.
Striker Talla Ndiaye increased the lead following a neat assist by Ba, running through on goal before finding Mane’s bottom corner five minutes from time.
Ba capped off his man-of-the-match display with a superb solo goal in stoppage time when he rounded the keeper before tapping into an empty net amidst wild celebrations from their fans.
The champions went home with 15,000,000 CFA Franc (US$ 25,248) plus the glittering trophy whilst the runner-up pocketed 10,000,000 CFA Franc (US$ 16,832).
Meanwhile, Niarry Tally will represent Senegal in next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
