The 20-year-old Harrison notched the first brace of his MLS career in NYCFC’s 3-2 victory over Columbus Crew SC at MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday, with the team improving to 3-0-0 this season and 6-1-0 all-time when the Englishman scores a goal. Harrison now has four goals and one assist on the season, equaling his scoring total from last year’s rookie campaign. With the victory, New York City FC now sits in third place in the Eastern Conference standings with 13 points (4-3-1 overall record).
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft would then give NYCFC the game winner in the 76th minute off teammate Yangel Herrera’s interception. Harrison found Herrera’s pass in the box and slickly squeezed a left-footed shot past a charging Steffen into the back left corner of goal for a 3-2 advantage (Watch Goal).
NYCFC returns to action this Sunday, May 7 when it hosts Atlanta United at Yankee Stadium (4:30 p.m. ET, Univision/Facebook.com).
