"I felt like I controlled the race all the way but the most important thing was to be in the top two and to win. In fact, I did what my coach told me and that was our plan.
"Later on it will bring me a better lane so it is important to be as high as possible early on.
"The most important part of the race is after the 200m as there is no space to move forward in that curve."
Deon Lendore (TTO) – 2nd place
"I know how to approach the semi-final now coming off the bank and I'll set my race up differently because of that. It's all about adapting my race from that race.
"I didn't really compete last season so this time it's about coming out and executing my races and getting as many medals as I can.
"By tomorrow I just want another medal and that's what I've come here to do."

"If I can medal this year that would be great. I medalled last year in the relay but it would be great to medal in the individual event."
Aldrich Bailey Jr (USA) – 1st place
"I wasn't expecting to win, just to qualify. All I thought was I have to keep moving and make it to the final by any means.
"My performance was OK, but the first round is out of the way and it is what it is, it's the World Championships and you have to be ready to go."
Nery Brenes (CRC) – DQ

"I'm here just to enjoy it, this will be my last indoor championships so I'm here to have fun.
"Age doesn't matter you just have to stay focused and be ready. I've shown I can still mix it with the young guys."
Oscar Husillos (ESP) – 1st place
"It was a difficult race and it was difficult to get into lane one which I think was the key to the race. I have to be faster in the semi-final and try to go for the Spanish record.
"It is going to be tough to get into the semi-final but I am confident as I have a fast opening 200m."
Pavel Maslak (CZE) – 2nd place
"The race was not a good one for me. I thought I was going fast but I was fourth when we broke from the lanes. I do not know where I made the mistake. But I am qualified so I will see how it goes in the semi-final. I think I was lucky today."
