CONCACAF Champions League (CCL) returns to Montreal on Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. ET (Fox Sports 2) as the Impact meet Costa Rican side Alajuelense for the first leg of the semifinals. Montreal enters its first ever CCL semifinal on the heels of rookie Cameron Porter’s magical 94th minute equalizer versus Mexican side Pachuca. The Impact will be without midfield staple Justin Mapp who has been sidelined with a dislocated elbow. Though Mapp’s absence creates a glaring void in the lineup, Impact boss Frank Klopas has an abundance of potential replacements that can play as wide midfielders including Dilly Duka, Dominic Oduro, Ignacio Piatti, Andres Romero, Blake Smith and Maxim Tissot. Montreal will seek contributions and elevated play from both Mapp’s replacement and the rest of its lineup as it carries the MLS torch through to the CCL final four.
