Sierra Leone and former Celtic striker, Mohamed ‘Poborsky’ Bangura has signed a-one- year deal with Swedish Superettan side, Dalkurd FF.
Bangura’s deal with the Swedish outfit came just days after it was confirmed that he had left Chinese League One side Dalian Yifang just after a year on a three years deal he signed in December 2015.
Meanwhile, the Swedish Superettan club confirmed the players’ signing on their website on Thursday January 12th with a banner headline: “Dalkurd recruits Mohamed Bangura.”
According to the club manager, Poya Asbaghi Johan Sandahl they are proud to sign the Sierra Leonean forward adding that the player fits well with the way the club wants to compete for promotion in the upcoming season.
He said: “We are very proud to announce Mohamed Bangura as the latest member of Dalkurd. In addition to a ton of experience, Bangura in a strong and skilful player who fits in well with the way that Dalkurd want to pursue their football goals. Beyond that he is a great guy both on and off the field which means that he will blend in with the team in no time.”
Reacting to the move, the former FC Kallon striker told the club website he feels great to join the club and help them gain promotion.
He said: “I feel great to have come to Dalkurd. I come to a young club with ambitions to play higher up in the league system. I have seen Dalkurd play football and it's the way I prefer to play football. My expectations for the season are that the course we take will help us step up to the Premier League.
We must be humble before the task and work hard to achieve it. I am convinced that we can continue this journey together and achieve new triumphs. I also wish everyone a Happy New Year. See you in the stands!"
Bangura started his career with FC Kallon before joining Sweden Division 1 side Värnamo in 2010. After half a season scoring13 goals in 12 games, AIK won the battle to get his signature, he later joined Celtic from AIK and was later loaned out to AIK and Elfsborg.
The Sierra Leone international striker also saw time with Istanbul BB in Turkey before returning to AIK and later joined Dalian Yifang.
