All three MLS clubs garnered a lead in the first leg of their respective Concacaf Champions League (CCL) quarterfinal matches against Liga MX sides. This week, the New York Red Bulls, Toronto FC and Seattle Sounders FC hopes to finish the job with a spot in the semifinals as CCL action resumes with the second leg of the quarterfinals on Tuesday and Wednesday. Advancing past their regional rivals would put them a step closer to the tournament final, where the winner qualifies for the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup hosted by the United Arab Emirates in December.
The New York Red Bulls hold a 2-0 aggregate lead, with a home-field advantage still in play, when they host Club Tijuana on Tuesday at Red Bull Arena. Later Tuesday night, defending MLS Cup champions Toronto FC visit Apertura 2017 winners Tigres UANL with a 2-1 aggregate lead. To cap off the quarterfinals on Wednesday, Seattle Sounders FC travel to take on Chivas de Guadalajara after posting a 1-0 win in Leg 1.
