The Malians will keep a date with their West African familiar foes at same venue on Wednesday in a repeat of the 2015 semi-final match won 2-1 by Les Aiglonnets on their way to their first continental crown following a 2-0 win over South Africa in the final.
“My players exhibited efficiency after following all instructions passed to them during training and particularly in this match against Angola,” Jonas Kokou Komla, beaming with smile told CAFOnline
“I want to congratulate them for displaying this kind of football that helped us by winning convincingly against Angola.; I have told my players from day one not to neglect any small details during these three matches which I described as cup finals.”
Angolan coach Simao Sebastiao Coxe Jose was gracious in defeat by wishing the Malians further success in the competition, adding:” Mali was more prepared than us for this match; I wish them the best in the semifinals.”
Meanwhile, Niger secured the other Group B ticket after a 1-0 win over Tanzania in Port Gentil and saw their passage into the semi-final based on the head-to-head rule after they finished on four points with the East African side. The Le Mena Cadets will now face Black Stars in Port Gentil on Wednesday.

Jonas Kokou Komla (Head coach, Mali)
No team got to this stage by mistake. All the eight teams are here on merit but my players got the tactics right today by almost 90 percent. My team has kept improving in every match but this can also be attributed to the local build up matches we played before coming to Gabon. We have achieved one of our targets by getting out of the group. We now set our sights on facing a very good opponent in the semifinals. We know the quality Guinea have but we shall not take our eyes off them. My boys will remain focused.
Simao Sebastiao Coxe Jose (Head Coach, Angola)
We have two different games today. One that put us under pressure and conceded a very quick goal and the other game saw us improve a lot. However, we played a very tactical team that was hungry for results today.
