KINSHASA (FIBA Africa Champions Cup 2019 Qualifiers) - A few hours after arriving in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea champions Malabo Kings caused the biggest upset so far at the ongoing FIBA Africa Zone 4 qualifier for the FIBA Africa Champions Cup (ACC) 2017.
Mazembe stepped out on the floor chasing a second win after beating DR Congo champions New Generation the previous day. However, against the odds, Kings reminded everyone that they arrived in Kinshasa targeting one of the two tickets on offer for the Final Round in Tunis from December 11-20.
In Tuesday's first game, New Generation bounced back with a 64-56 triumph over Equatorial Guinean vice-champions San Antonio.
The four-team regional qualifier resumes on Wednesday with Mazembe taking on San Antonio while New Generation will go up against Malabo Kings.
So far, teams qualified include Angola's Sport Libolo e Benfica and InterClube, City Oilers of Uganda and hosts Etoile Sportive du Rades.
