The defender who received his second call-up to the Kenyan national team last week is confident that the team has learned some important lessons from their past failures in the Nations Cup qualifiers and their quest for qualification in this campaign will start in Freetown.
The Nation further quoted the 20-year-old defender saying: “Of course I am not underrating Sierra Leone, but they have problems of their own at the moment. We should capitalize on that and ensure that we start this campaign on a high note.”
He has been capped once and based on his current form he is in line to extend his tally with a run out against Leone Stars away match in Freetown this weekend.
Okumu who could be in line for his second caps with the Harambee Stars was however cautioned that small teams are no longer considered as underdogs in African football.
