Juvenile Boxers Storm Books B4 Hooks 2022 Programme At James Town

Scores of juvenile boxers, both males and females were at the Will Power Boxing Gym at James Town in Accra to exhibit their skills and talent in boxing on Friday. 
The children who were between the ages of 5 to 12 years displayed real raw talent and marvelous skills to the admiration of fans who were there to cheer them up. 
All the coaches of the numerous boxing Gyms were present to monitor and it was just amazing and interesting to see the level of techniques and strategies of the juvenile boxers. 
The programme organised by the Greater Accra Boxing Association is the scout, select, groom and encourage young boxers. 
Miss Sarah Lotus Asare, an executive member of the Association said she was overwhelmed by the attendance, but not shocked over the number of kids who want to box because boxing is the culture of the people of James Town.

President of the Boxing Promoters Association of Ghana, Mr. Alex Ntiamoah Boakye who is Secretary General of the Greater Accra Boxing Association said the exercise has given them many ideas about how to support the many young boxers in the region. 
"We have the boys and girls who love to box, now we need funds, equipment and other logistics to make them champions " he expressed. 
He expressed the need for more bouts and enticement of the children to love education and attend school. 
He appealed to corporate bodies to sponsor the boxers who are the future of the nation. 
Mr. Mustapha Nettey, Treasurer of the Ghana Boxing Federation who was also present said Ghana is blessed with sports talent and the government must do something positive to allow the kids to always be in school or the training grounds if they are not doing anything at home. 
He commended the organisers of the Books & Hooks programme as very good for the community of James Town, the Greater Accra region and Ghana as a boxing nation, because there is always a pool of talent to select the best to form the national team. 
National coach Ofori Asare who was excited with the performance of the boxers also called for more investment in boxing, because history has proved that boxing is the sport that gives the nation hope and laurels. 
Coach Ebenezer Adjei of the Black Panthers Gym said the future is always bright for Ghana Boxing. He appealed for sponsors to come on board to support the good work they are doing. 
The three day event started on Friday, June 24 and ends on June 26, 2022.
