
According to the British Guardian newspaper, Manchester City are in advanced discussions to sign Wilfried Bony from Swansea City in a deal worth around £25m, with Manuel Pellegrini seeking to strengthen his goalscoring options.
Bony is due to join up with the Ivory Coast for the Africa Cup of Nations, meaning he may be unavailable until the middle of next month, but Pellegrini has moved due to having only three front-line strikers in Sergio Agüero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic.
The 26-year-old striker spoke for the first time about the possibility of signing for City as he prepared to fly to Abu Dhabi to join up with the Ivory Coast squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea. “It’s good to hear [City are interested]. Every player wants to play in the Champions League,” said Bony, who confirmed a medical had yet to take place. “The discussions are going on, we don’t know what’s happened, now I just focus on the national team.”
