Lady Captain of the IBB Int’l Golf and Country Club, MaryRose Richard-Obioha, informed that the Golf and Tennis Development Clinic which is primarily for new golf and tennis enthusiasts, is majorly targeted at women but men are also invited.
The IBB Ladies Golf and Tennis Development Clinic is aimed at introducing new players to the sports, improving the skills of those currently playing and encouraging them to progress further.
Driven toward helping participants with an opportunity in the two sports, equipping them with the much-needed technical playing knowledge to progress as they adopt any of the two, the Clinic is also aimed at encouraging the public to embrace golf and tennis by challenging the negative perceptions they may have about them.
All arrangements have been put in place for an enjoyable participation this Saturday, with full observance of covid-19 protocols.
Starting from 7am until 1pm, the IBB Ladies Golf and Tennis Development Clinic promises to be an engaging and entertaining weekend for women in sports with packed activities for participants for the whole six hours.
The Clinic will also host talks on Women and Sports, Etiquettes and Rules, and hands-on technical knowledge on sports which will be handled by professionals in those fields.
Participants are assured of hands-on technical playing knowledge of the sports for their improvement and profession as they go.
In the end, participants will return prepared with the skill and information about those sports that they can become players at amateur levels.
Past editions of the clinic have produced new golf players such as Dr. Joyce Barber, Hajiya Nana Abubakar and the likes, whilst improving skills of those who were already playing.
Previous editions of the IBB Ladies Golf and Tennis Development have been for free to all participants. Consequently, due to the effect of the pandemic on funding and to avoid cancelling this year's which denies people of the chance at becoming golf and tennis players, this year's edition is set with a participation fee of N 5000 ($13 approx).
The fee is to help support organisation of the Golf and Tennis Development Clinic in the standard that it is known for.
