
At a Congress attended by former State Presidents (who were all honoured), Thabo Mbeki, FW de Klerk, Kgalema Motlanthe and President Jacob Zuma, who was represented by Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula, the Association also honoured its founding fathers.
SAFA reported a R10 million profit for the year ending 2013/2014.
Minister Mbalula lauded the new SAFA leadership for a job well done adding the current vibe and victories of various national teams was a result of the Association’s President, Dr Danny Jordaan’s vision.
The Congress finally resolved to expel former SAFA vice President Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana who violated football’s fundamental constitution of taking football matters to the courts of law.
The SAFA Congress unanimously resolved to expel Chief Nonkonyana from football.
SASCOC President, Gideon Sam said SAFA had shown decisive action adding he wanted to congratulate the Association at the way it conducted its business.
“SAFA has set an example on other federations and among all the AGMs we have attended of other federations, this was the best,” concluded Sam.
