British Gas SwimBritain is now in its second year and the event encourages more people to swim regularly. Thousands of members of the public signed up to take to the water with decorated stars of British Swimming including Becky Adlington and Ellie Simmonds, plus celebrities including David Walliams, at 11 locations nationwide between 30th August and 4th October.

Becky, who won two Olympic Gold Medals at Beijing 2008 and a further two Bronze Medals at the London 2012 said: “British Gas SwimBritain 2014 has been a fantastic success. The event really encourages family and friends to swim and train together, which is something I’m proud to support.
“Swimming isn’t just about exercise, it’s about having fun too. No matter your age or ability, swimming is a fantastic way to stay healthy and happy! It was brilliant to see so many enthusiastic swimmers of all ages at London Fields.
“Britain has a lot of very talented swimmers at the moment and British swimmers enjoyed a lot of success at the European Championships and Commonwealth Games this year. I hope SwimBritain has inspired some future champions as we look forwards.”
Other familiar faces at SwimBritain London Fields included Sophie Taylor, Rebecca Turner, Georgia Davies, Aine Hoy, Hannah & Emily Randall, Ciara Gibson Byrne and Jodie Cowie.
British Gas SwimBritain ambassador, Duncan Goodhew added: “It’s great to be a part of SwimBritain for a second year. The fantastic achievements of British swimmers has seen the popularity of swimming rise and I’m excited to be a part of this.
“British Gas SwimBritain is designed to inspire everyone to take the plunge and become more involved in swimming. Swimmers have the chance to swim with the stars and it’s great that SwimBritain is proving extremely popular, whether it’s people taking their first strokes or World Champions in the making.”
