Ghana's Maayaa A. Ayawere placed 6th with her time of 38.37s in the finals of the 50m G1 breast stroke, Team. It means Maayaa has qualified to represent Ghana at the World Junior Swimming Championship in the United States of America come August.
She achieved this feat by placing seventh in her heats out of 11 countries and with her time she has been able push herself into the finals. More swimming stories as and when it breaks.

Meanwhile, Farida A. Iddrisu National Treasurer of the Ghana Swimming Association has made a frantic call on the Minister for Youth and Sports to help the least financed sports especially swimming.
She is quoted as saying " the Minister should support swimming, because parents of the swimmers are made to go through the hustle of buying tickets and paying for accommodation of their kids who are participating in International Championship on behalf of the Nation. This is not right and they also fund all the training of the kids in here in Ghana. A budget of just less than 100,000dollars is all they are asking the Ministry to give them or link the Association to a company for support".
The Junior Championship will qualify the Swimmers to Indianapolis USA in August 2017 for World Junior Swimming Championship.
