The last time the Gala competition took place was in 2005 with Asante Kotoko emerging champions.
Kurtz Okraku, Chairman of the Organising Committee said teams will take $2,500 as participation fees and a further $500 for qualification to the next round, $1000 will go to the runners-up, and $2000 for the winner.
Mr. Vincent Yu of StarTimes said he was glad to be associated with the revival of the Gala and assured that they have the resources and equipment for quality production. He welcomed other sponsors and media partners to sustain the Gala.
Richmond Kelson of Groupe Nduom noted that they are supporting the development of Ghana Football to reach international standards. He said GN is providing the stadium, hotel feeding and accommodation at Coconut Groove Hotel and the use of GN Mobile Money.
Ashford Tetteh-Oku, Chairman of the Premier League Board (PLB) gave a brief history of the Gala and commended the efforts of those who worked to bring it back. He also appealed to corporate Ghana to support the tournament.
Isaac Addo, General Secretary of the GFA tasked the people of Elmina and surrounding towns and villages to fill the stadium as a minimal sum of 2ghc would be charged. He thanked the media for the support they have given the GFA and pressed them to do more.
