Banjul, Gambia, December 27, 2016 – Gambia Volleyball Federation inspected three of the four Africa Dream Project centres in Banjul, Brikama and Farafenni over the weekend.
The Dream Project is an initiative of FIVB President Dr. AryS. Graça F°, aiming to bring Africa at the centre stage of world volleyball.
At the Banjul centre, project director Bai Dodou Jallow confirmed his support for the Africa Dream Project. He advised the coaches to strategise their plans and make good use of the project to train the kids on the basics of the game.
“The Dream Project is an initiative of FIVB President,” Jallow said. “Gambia is among the few countries in Africa that have benefitted from this project. It is our pride, but also a challenge, so we should work hard.”
“I want to see every Gambian school kid playing volleyball,” said Jallow on promoting grassroots volleyball. “This is the goal of Dr. Graça that is why he is supporting this project. His dream is to see an African nation on the gold medal podium at the World Championship.”
The national federation concluded their monitoring and evaluation in Farafenni led by Kalilou Bayo, Alfousainey Jarju and Pa Barrow. The team went to see the progress made at the north bank settlement.
The management team will finalise their inspection at the Serrekunda East centre after the Christmas break.
