ABIDJAN (FIBA AfroBasket 2017) - Four national teams will do battle for the last slot available for FIBA AfroBasket 2017, FIBA Africa confirmed on Thursday.
Cape Verde, Chad, the Central African Republic (CAF) and Zimbabwe will face off in the Malian capital of Bamako from May 19-21, with the winner of this additional qualifier filling the void left by the Republic of Congo.
As well as completing the 16-team FIBA AfroBasket line-up, the winner of the Bamako showdown will take part in the FIBA Basketball World 2019 African Qualifiers.
So far, teams qualified for the FIBA AfroBasket 2017 include the continental champions Nigeria, Angola, Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Uganda, Mozambique and South Africa.
Both Guinea and Rwanda have been awarded wild cards to compete in the FIBA African basketball showpiece.
