Despite threats from the world’s football governing body, FIFA that any decision reached at the said congress will be illegal and the refusal of the Sierra Leone National Ebola Response Center to grant them clearance due to the current state of emergency in the country, the stakeholders however staged their congress through telephone conference.
“The said interim committee shall also have authority to investigate and if necessary authorize the audit of the finance of SLFA. The said interim committee is granted authority to put modalities in place for the running of the various leagues throughout the country and the regional associations.”
It was also stated in the resolution that the members of the said interim executive are disqualified from being nominated or voted for any Executive position in the congress to be held in July 2015. The resolution further stated: “The logo of the SLFA be the one with the map of Sierra Leone with the national colours and a football inside the map and that same be legally registered as the logo of SLFA and henceforth replace the present logo in all SLFA correspondence.”
Amongst others in the resolution is that suspension of officials, players and others for an alleged match-fixing be rescinded.
“That the purported suspensions on allegation of match fixing of players, officials and other persons by the Isha Johansen led executive is in breach of the rules of natural justice (Audi Alteram Paterm) and is hereby rescinded. This is without prejudice to any other investigation to be conducted subsequently with regards the same.”
However, the big question is that wither or not FIFA will recognized the new body remains to be seen but it is said the Sierra Leone Sports council have already given their blessing to the stakeholders.
