Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 4, 2016 - The FIVB urged National Federations to activate the VolleyballYourWay movement in their countries during the third and final session at the FIVB Congress Workshop in Buenos Aires on Tuesday.
The FIVB is committed to spreading the movement around the world, through festivals, courses and workshops. On Saturday, the FIVB hosted a VolleyballYourWay festival in Buenos Aires ahead of the opening of the 35th FIVB World Congress in the Argentinian capital.
Panel members - Haiti Volleyball federation President Margarette Graham, Austria Volleyball Federation President Peter Kleinmann, Argentina Secretary General Gabriel Salvia and Netherlands Volleyball Federation General Secretary Michel Everaert - all gave personal experiences on developing volleyball in their countries.
Volleyball is for everyone
The importance of having good programmes
The importance of having good teachers
Money is important but so is innovation, collaboration and determination
Plenty of opportunities for international collaboration
FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° said whilst closing the Development Workshop: “VolleyballYourWay is our way of helping you to spread the participation in volleyball. FIVB has specific courses for school teachers, for coaches, for beach volleyball.
"We have delivered courses already this year everywhere from the Marshall Islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, to Mozambique, to Myanmar. And everywhere, the feedback is positive. We have even taken the concept to the Olympic Games, where we made a festival in Madureira Park with entertainment and coaching to teach the basic skills to young people. Teaching young people is how we can give them a love of volleyball and also how we can help make their lives better off the court too.”
