
The teams are drawn from Nungua, Teshie, La and Osu with a trophy and cash prize at stake for the winners and participants.
The former assistant coach of the national beach soccer team hinted that some ex Black Stars players like Stephen Appiah, Laryea Kingston, Godwin Attram, Sam Johnson, Richard Kingston and Augustine Arhinful would be participating and could possibly play a fun match against the media.
He noted that Beach Soccer is not active of late, and in order for people not to lose interest in the game, they are putting up the Communities Cup competition, which could be expanded next year to involve teams from Ga Mashie, James Town, Korle Gonno, Chorkor, Dansoman and Mamprobi who have all shown willingness to participate.
According to Theo Armah of Teshie Beach Soccer Club, the organisers decided to spice the programme with a match between the media and ex Stars or the officials.
He thanked officials of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) and the media for supporting the event which has been planned to be held every year as part of the Ga Homowo Festival.
