Tirunesh Dibaba of Ethiopia winner of the Women's 10,000 meters race Tirunesh Dibaba of Ethiopia; the Queen of women’s middle distance running showed the world again why she is the undisputable ruler of the 10,000 and 5,000 meters as she showed true grit in the final 500 meters of a grueling race led by Japan’s Hitomi Niiya for the most part. Dibaba started sprinting from the 500 meters mark reminiscent of her surge at the London 2012 Olympics with Kenya’s Gladys Cherono and fellow Ethiopian Belaynesh Ojira hanging close behind her pushing her all the way but with 200 meters to go she separated herself from the two surging away as If she was contesting a 200 meters dash race to finish the race in spectacular form claiming the Gold medal in the 10, 000 meters with a time of 30:43.35.
Okagbare (l) takes Silver in the Long Jump Meanwhile Blessing Okagbare came to Moscow with a lot in her favor in both the women’s 100 meters as well as in the Long Jump. After several spectacular performances that included a 7.04 Meters long jump a month ago at the Paris Track and Field Grand Prix and an African Women’s 100 meters record at 10.79 seconds, Track & Field insiders and watchers are expecting her to do very well in Moscow and that indeed she has done as she started her medal campaign with a second place Silver medal performance in the Long Jump of 6.99 meters behind Britney Reese of the USA who had a jump of 7.01 meters. She will contest the 100 meters Semi-finals and Finals tomorrow Sunday August 12th 2013.

Bolt pulling away from Gatlin in the men's 100 meters Gatlin started the race with a superb start with Usain Bolt keeping close and as usual with 30 meters to go Usain Bolt with his height advantage pulled away from Gatlin his sole challenger taking Gold in 9.77 seconds as Gatlin followed closely with a time of 9.85 seconds respectively. Nesta Carter of Jamaica was third to take home the Bronze medal in the event
