The Momentum PinkDay ODI takes place on 10 February 2018 at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium.
“I have enjoyed hearing about the way South Africans unite for an incredible cause, at an event that has an electric atmosphere and dress up to show their support. This year I want to call on everyone to #PitchUpInPink for Pink Friday on 9 February and the PinkDay on Saturday10 February and take their self-expression to a whole new dimension and style,” Tlale said.
The 2018 PinkDay has a new beneficiary with all the funds raised going to the Breast Cancer Unit at the Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg.
Spot prizes for the best outfits and an ultimate accolade of being the best dressed at the PinkDay are up for grabs. Sharing your planned outfit on social media with the #PitchUpInPink hashtag, can earn you a seat in the PinkCarpet Celebrity VIP suite.
Tlale has also influenced the design of the official PinkDay Relate bracelet which will be available for sale to the public as well as any corporate entities wanting to support the cause with bulk orders.
“For the bracelet design, we have selected a weaved design which is in-line with a lot of current trends in bold colours that will certainly grasp the attention of anyone that sees you wearing it. This then becomes another conversation piece around the cause and raises the funds needed to make a difference,” Tlale added.
Standard Bank Proteas Captain, Faf du Plessis, is excited to have Tlale on board.
”The team has always enjoyed playing in the PinkDay and also seeing our fans really get behind the cause and campaign. We look forward to seeing them step it up and take on David Tlale’s challenge,” he said.
Chief Executive of the Gauteng Cricket Board (GCB), Greg Fredericks commented: “We pride ourselves on giving people an increasingly terrific experience at the Bullring during each edition of the PinkDay. In that sense our collaboration with David Tlale which aims to inspire our fans to dress up is a great addition to the day and we strongly believe that this will increase our ability to raise awareness of breast cancer and raise funds for our chosen beneficiary. David Tlale’s influence on style and trends is renowned worldwide and we are honoured to welcome him on board”.
