- Real Madrid beat Juventus 4-1 to seal 12th European Cup/UEFA Champions League title
- Cristiano Ronaldo scores twice to win his fourth Champions League trophy
- The No7 scored his 600th career goal during final in Cardiff
FIFA.com takes a look at some of the magic milestones that The Best FIFA Men's Player 2016 added to his already stunning array of personal landmarks during the win, which ensured the FIFA Club World Cup holders would head out to UAE later this year to defend their title.
3 finals in which Ronaldo has scored, making him the first in the Champions League era to do so. Before last night, the No7 was one of an elite club - along with Raul, Samuel Eto'o, Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos - to have scored in two Champions League finals, having bagged in the 2008 and 2014 finales. He was also the only player to have scored in a Champions League final for two different teams, before Mario Mandzukic's stunning effort in Cardiff saw the Croatian match that particular accolade (having scored for Bayern Munich against Borussia Dortmund in 2013).
4 appearances in Champions League final victories make Ronaldo the joint-most decorated player in the competition since the change of format in 1992. He joins Clarence Seedorf (who won with Ajax, Real Madrid and twice with AC Milan) and Andres Iniesta (who won all his titles with Barcelona) as the only players to have appeared in four final wins. Xavi, Gerard Pique, Messi and Eto'o also have four titles to their name, but took part in only three finals.
12 goals in the 2016/17 Champions League for Ronaldo meant he finished top of the scoring charts for a record sixth time, in the process becoming the first player to finish top scorer five times in a row. His two goals in Cardiff sealed the personal crown, taking him past Lionel Messi, who scored 11 times in nine matches during this season's competition.
600 goals for club and country was the incredible milestone that Ronaldo reached with his second goal in Cardiff. The Portuguese superstar has reached that total, for Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real and Portugal, in 855 competitive games.
I'll go as far as I can. This season has been fantastic again – we've won the league and the Champions League. The squad has been great, and it's been good for me individually too. I prepared myself well for the final part of the season and I scored some important goals.
