Team Abu Bakarr Bangura on Wednesday registered their first victory in the ongoing Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) female league securing a 7 wickets win over Albert Kpundeh at the Prince of Wales Secondary School ground.
Wednesday’s win over Albert Kpundeh left team Thorpe at the top of the log with 4 points from two matches while both Team Bakarr and Kpundeh are with 2 points apiece from three matches.
Saturday’s encounter saw Team Albert Kpundeh beat Team Abubakarr Bangura by seven wickets.
After winning the toss, Team Albert Kpundeh took the option to field and limited their opponent to 100 for nine in just 17.3 overs. Captain Linda Bull scored 45 runs and remained not out till the end.
In reply, Team Albert Kpundeh enjoyed good runs with the openers Sarah Johnson and Adama Kamara both scored a whopping 36 runs partnership in 6.2 overs. Ann Marie Monica Kamara finished as the team top scorer with 26 runs before she was caught. Fatu Pessima struck 20 runs not out to enable her side to record their first victory in the competition.
The tournament is organized in line with preparations of selecting Sierra Leone’s national team to defend their North West Africa Cricket Council (NWACC) title in June this year.
All three participating teams will play in four matches which will enable the selection committee to identify 24 players for a national team selection ahead of the NWACC tournament.
