Kent Cricket Club male team booked their Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) premier league promotion ticket on Saturday after defeating Old Prince Waleans Cricket Club by 7 wickets in the final match of the SLCA / Mercury International T20 Division One League.
KCC did remarkably well with their bowling power but the Prince Waleans Emmanuel Akpoh was limited to 17runs as the team’s top scorer. Bockarie Abdul of KCC took 4 wickets in 4 overs for 19 runs, while Osman Thomas Sankoh took 3 wickets in 4 overs for 24 runs.
In reply to the batting of 110 target, the Kent Cricket Club scored 113 runs in 12.2 Overs for the loss of 3 wickets with their skipper James Bundu finishing the match as the top scorer with 55 runs not out off 43 balls and Osman Thomas Sankoh scored an incredible 22runs not out off 6 balls.
The win automatically saw KCC grab the only available promotion spot and the KCC Coach, Joseph Pessima said it was a great feat to achieve.
He said: “It was particularly pleasing that we achieved this promotion. It was great to see different players standing up at key points throughout the Division One League. Their attitude and team spirit was outstanding and was a key towards achieving our promotion.”
The club’s founder and Chief Executive Officer, Emmanuel Pessima who was also part of the squad said the development of the youngsters is one of the highlight of which the club's was formed. He added that the lad’s performance shows that their development program has proven what hard work and dedication can do.
