The announcement follows the suspension of the president, Ahmad Ahmad, for five years by FIFA, on grounds of breach of its code of ethics, on Monday.
The African football issued a statement acknowledging Mr Ahmad's situation while declaring an extension to Omari's acting capacity.
Mr Ahmad is banned from all football-related activities for the next five years with a fine of two hundred thousand Swiss Francs (CHF 200,000). He is therefore unable to perform any function in administrative capacity or otherwise.
The football house wrote in the statement: "CAF and CAF President take note of this decision which puts Mr. Ahmad Ahmad in a position of no longer being able to exercise his responsibilities.
"In accordance with its statutes, CAF announces that the current interim of Mr. Constant Selemani Omari as President of CAF is extended.
"The Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF), which is concerned about the reputational consequences of this long procedure, maintains the schedule of all its activities and programs."
