According to data presented by SafeBettingSites.com, Manchester City and Liverpool FC top the list of the most expensive football teams with over €2bn in the combined market value of their players.
Manchester City tops the list of the highest-priced football teams in 2020, with €1.04bn in the combined market value of its 31 players, revealed the TransferMarkt data. However, most of them or 27 to be precise, witnessed a significant market value drop this year.
Club's most expensive player and the second most expensive football player globally, Raheem Sterling, lost €32 million in market valuation this year. In December 2019, the famous left-winger was valued at €160 million. This figure plunged to €128 million by the end of April, a 20% drop in four months.
The market value of Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City's second most-expensive player, stood at €120 million in April, a €30 million drop since the beginning of the year. Bernardo Silva, the famous right-winger, witnessed a 20% plunge in its market value this year, with the figure falling to €80 million in April.
Philip Foden, Eric García, and Luka Ilic are the only three players in the club whose value increased recently to €40 million, €16 million, and €1.2 million, respectively.
Liverpool FC Hit €1.02bn in Market Value of Players
Liverpool FC ranked as the second most-expensive football team globally, with €1.02bn in the market value of its 30 players. However, statistics show the club's two most expansive players, and fourth and the fifth most valued football players globally, lost €60 million in combined market valuation this year.
In April, Liverpool's left-winger Sadio Mané was valued at €120 million, a €30 million drop since December last year. His team-mate Mohamed Salah witnessed an identical financial hit, with his market valuation stumbling from €150 million to €120 million amid the coronavirus crisis.
Statistics show the market value of Trent Alexander-Arnold, the third most-expensive player in Liverpool FC, recovered to €110 million in July, reaching the December 2019 level.
The TransferMarkt data revealed FC Barcelona ranked as the third most-expensive professional football club globally with more than €1bn in all players' market value. Chelsea FC and Real Madrid follow, with €930.5 million and €930.3 million, respectively.
