With just eight days to go before the opening ceremony of the 2014 Chan tournament, the local organizing committee has released a statement professing that they are geared up to host the tournament.
The Chan CEO, Mvuzo Mbebe, said that the excitement is building up and he also testified that only three cities will play host to the tournament.
The Democratic Republic of Congo were the first team to arrive for the tournament and they will be based in Polokwane where they will be battling against Gabon, Burundi and Mauritania in Group D.
In addition to Polokwane, the other cities that will play host to the tournament are Cape Town and Bloemfontein.

“We are nearing the start of the tournament and it is clear we are within touching distance. All the ground work has been laid and as we await the arrival of the other 14 teams, we eagerly anticipate to a tournament that will celebrate Africa’s home champions,” said Mbebe.
Meanwhile the hosts are yet to prepare for the tournament which gets underway in Cape Town on January 11. South Africa will face Mozambique in the opening match of the tournament at the Cape Town stadium.
