
Cairo, Egypt, January 14, 2015 - The CAVB Beach Volleyball Commission has confirmed the dates and hosts of the CAVB Continental Cup, which will see participants compete to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani attended the meeting and urged the commission members to use their experience to help put new strategies in place for the sport and come forward with proposals for the next Board of Administration meeting.
"We are coming to a very busy beach volleyball season and we need the experience of each person here to spread beach volleyball across Africa," Elwani said.
The second edition of the competition has attracted over 40 national federations, which will compete over four different rounds until the African representatives at the Olympics are decided.
The Commission also confirmed the dates of the 2015 All Africa Games qualifiers, which will be held in each zone to determine which 24 teams book their tickets to the event due to be held in Congo Brazzaville from September 4 to 14, 2015.
The first ever African qualifiers for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships The Netherlands 2015 will be held from 14 to 20 February, 2015 to fill the four African spots at the elite World Beach Volleyball Championships.
The meeting was attended by CAVB President Dr. Amr Elwani, CAVB Vice President Waithaka Kioni, CAVB Beach Commission President Ayaovi Babanaw and by Commission members Musa Nimrod, Ali Yaro, Antonio Rodriguez, Ben Juma, Gershon Rorich, Augustine Agapa, Alexis Mbarga, Bah Oury and Fouad Abdelsalam.
