Sports Minister asks for report on Ghana’s disqualification from men’s 4x100m at 2022 Commonwealth Games

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has demanded an explanation from Ghana’s International Games Committee and Chef De Mission for the disqualification of the men’s 4×100m quartet.

Ghana secured a final ticket with a run of 39.05s in the heats to reach the final but was bizarrely disqualified over what the Ghana Athletics described as ‘technical oversight.’

A contingent of 11 players and 7 officials of the Ghana Beach Soccer Team have arrived in the Egyptian city of Alexandria after a transit stop in Addis Ababa - Ethiopia. 


The remaining players and officials will join the team on Friday ahead of the match on Sunday.

The long route from West to North Africa was necessitated by the non availability of a direct flight from the Ghanaian capital.

August 6th 2022, SUKHBAATAR (Mongolia) - China won their first FIBA 3x3 Women's Series stop in 3 years in Sukhbaatar, Mongolia on August 5-6, 2022.
China had not won on the Women's Series since the Lignano Stop in Italy on July 13-14, 2019. Now the wait is over and, interestingly, the victory came without any of the players who struck bronze at the Crelan FIBA 3x3 World Cup 2022 and just one (Kun Huang) who won the Asia Cup earlier this season.

Ghana men's relay team has been disqualified despite finishing third in Heat 2 of 4x100 meters.


Ghana automatically qualified for the 4x100m final after a very decent 39.05seconds, but there was a problem with the team fielded.

It was the first time they  ran together, as well as a national team debut for Ageh and Sameenu.

Malta Guinness - new headline sponsors for Ghana Women's Premier League

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced Malta Guinness as the new headline sponsor for the 2022/23 Women's Premier League.
Mala Guinness were officially confirmed as the new sponsor on Friday at a ceremony which took place at the GFA Secretariat in Accra.
The beverage company has signed a three-year partnership deal with the GFA.
The deal will see the beverage company sponsor the league with three million Ghana cedis for the next three seasons.
