Eto'o: I Need a Miracle

Cameroon captain Samuel Eto'o admitted on Monday that he needs a miracle if he is to shake off a right knee injury in time to play in Wednesday's World Cup Group A match against Croatia. The 33-year-old striker played in Cameroon's 1-0 Group A defeat to Mexico on Friday, but he was not present at training at Vitoria, near Belo Horizonte, on Sunday.

"I am hoping the gods grant me a miracle and that I am able to defend my dear, beautiful country," Eto'o told Cameroon Radio-Television (CRTV). "If this is not the case, I will always play my role as captain and especially as the big brother to push my young teammates to victory

A much touted Nigerian Super Eagles squad played to a 0 - 0 boring draw with an unheralded Iran Team that most pundits thought the Super Eagles should have easily beaten. The Super Eagles players were not very coordinated and were out of sync with each other. It was obvious some of the players did not put in the right effort to pressure the Iranians.

Many fans and some of the analysts doing Pregame commentaries and the Commentators calling the game between Japan and Cote D’Ivoire were a bit confused and flabbergasted that Sabri Lamouchi the Coach of the Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire began the Game without Didier Drogba in the lineup, and the frustrations heightened when they fell down by a goal by Honda of Japan.

For those who are historical scholars of the game, you could immediately read into the strategy Lamouchi was adopting here and that was the 1990 World Cup playbook of Cameroon which saw Africa at its brightest with Roger Milla and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon almost making it to the Semi-Finals, it was a strategy which saw the aging Milla at 38 brought on as a Substitute late into Games and on every occasion changed the dynamics of the Game.
