Lausanne, Switzerland, October 23, 2017 – Cameroon made a winning start as they opened their campaign at the Italy-Bulgaria 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship CAVB African Qualifier on Monday.
Reniof Mayam’s side shrugged off losing the opening set to fight back and defeat Morocco 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 25-23, 25-19).
At the Poland 2014 World Championship Cameroon were one of three CAVB qualifiers along with Egypt and Tunisia.
Tunisia made it two wins from two and reached the quarterfinals with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-22) victory over Kenya.
Algeria and Rwanda also won their second matches of the tournament.
Algeria defeated Chad 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-19) and Rwanda also enjoyed a straight-sets victory, 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-17) against Botswana.
Libya needed to fight hard to win their opening fixture, against Ghana. They held their nerve in a tie-break after the match had swung back and forth and finished with a 3-2 (25-22, 21-25, 23-25, 25-16, 15-10) victory.
