
John Bocco gave local favourites, Azam a 17th minute lead. Striker Kipre Cheche laid a fine cross to Bocco and he tapped in from close range with Gor Mahia keeper Boniface Oluoch beaten.
In the 23rd minute, Michael Wafula missed a good opportunity for Gor Mahia to draw level from a one-on-one situation, allowing Azam to lead at the interval.
Cheche ensured victory on 76 minutes with a superb free-kick that left the Gor Mahia goalie with no option.
Didier Kavumbagu failed to increase the tally for Azam three minutes from time in a one-on-one with Oluoch, but shot wide.
Azam’s Pascal Wawa was named Man-of-the-Match whilst Gor Mahia striker, Michael Olunga emerged top scorer with five goals.
The Tanzanians went home with 30,000 US Dollars for emerging champions, whilst Gor Mahia pocketed 20,000 US Dollars for the efforts.

In the third place match, Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) of Uganda beat Khartoum of Sudan 2-1 to claim bronze and a monetary prize of 10,000 US Dollars.
All goals came in the first half with Michael Birungi and Muzamiru Mutyaba finding the back of the net for KCCA and Baba Ousmaila for Khartoum.
