In a chat with yours truly, the widely-traveled Kenyan who loves and plays all sports disciplines said Ghana has improved the game with the 2016 selected boys from various centers playing on an astro turf at the Tema Sports Stadium.
According to Othoro who has been with Aspire for ten years revealed that many people have interest in football in West Africa so there are some players from the region playing top flight football, compared to his country and the Eastern part of Africa where the interest in football is not that big.
He urged African leaders to seek to the welfare of their citizens than exploiting them in different forms by taxation and saving huge sums of money abroad.
He stressed that Africa has all the resources in the world, yet the continent is poor, while the western world do not have much resources but they control the world economy.
Othoro advised the potential Aspire future stars to be disciplined and loyal to those who led them to find Aspire as they aspire to be great sportsmen in future.
He was of the view that there is no sports industry in Africa, but an eco-system, because it sports is developed well, many sectors are going to benefit, including even hawkers at the stadium.
“Politicians are not helping the development of sports in Africa” he said.
He also supported the blend of sports and education because many sports people are strong, intelligent and creative.
