New WTA TV Livestreaming Service Set to Launch Worldwide on July 31, 2017

ST PETERSBURG, FL, USA – The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) announced today the scheduled launch of WTA TV on July 31, 2017. The new subscription service will offer WTA tennis matches streamed live and on-demand to subscribers around the world for a monthly or annual fee.

An annual subscription to WTA TV provides access to nearly 2,000 live and on-demand matches from all WTA Premier tournaments and the majority of WTA International tournaments. The high quality content and consumer-centric platform is highlighted by several features such as HD streaming, multi-match viewing and multiple camera coverage for all main draw singles matches.

Lifesaving South Africa President Dylan Tommy confirmed the appointment of Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene of Monaco as Patron of Lifesaving South Africa, at an event held at the Beverly Hills Hotel, in Umhlanga, Durban on Wednesday 26th July 2017.

The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation was established in 2012 and has since reached over 300,000 people worldwide, with operations being established here in South Africa in 2013. The work of the Foundation is internationally acknowledged and celebrated for raising public awareness about the dangers of water, teaching children essential water safety skills and how to swim.

Largest ever biomechanics research project in athletics to be undertaken at IAAF World Championships London 2017

Super League heads to Australia

The UK’s Super League rugby league competition will stage its first regular season game outside of Europe next year when the Wigan Warriors take on Hull FC in Australia.

The match will be played at the WIN Stadium in Wollongong, home of National Rugby League (NRL) side St George Illawarra Dragons, and has been scheduled to take place on 10th February 2018. The fixture will serve as a home game for Wigan.

CA ready for arbitration in pay row

Cricket Australia said on Thursday it will take its long-running pay dispute with players to independent arbitration if agreement cannot be reached by early next week, with a tour to Bangladesh looming.

Chief executive James Sutherland said unless a period of intensive negotiations over the next few days produces a compromise, his organisation will seek the intervention of an industrial umpire to resolve the impasse.

Sanlam CTM hosts IAAF Gold Label race

The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is set to host the first IAAF gold label city marathon in Africa. The 42.2-km road race has made huge strides since it was relaunched in 2014, quickly establishing its place as one of only a select few marathons in the world to achieve IAAF gold label status.

Last year’s winners, Britain’s Tish Jones and Ethiopia’s Asefa Mengstu Negewo, have confirmed that they will be back to compete in this world-class running event. Negewo broke the record for the fastest performance for a standard marathon on South African soil in last year’s race.

Secretary General of Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water-Polo Association, Mohamed Abdul Turay has backed his vice-captain; Osman Kamara who has promised to reduce his Personal Best (PB) time of 26.90 sec in the 50 meters freestyle on Friday.

The 28-years old will take the pool on Friday at the ongoing FINA World Aquatic Championship in Budapest, Hungary.

Wobay parts company with NK Olimpija

Sierra Leone international Gibrilla Julius Wobay has left Slovenian top league (Prva Liga) side, NK Olimpija after both parties agreed against signing a new deal which both the player and club confirmed.

The 31-year-old attacking midfielder who joined the Slovenian top league side on a year-and-half contract in 2016 decided not to go on with a new deal with the club.

WTA Releases 2018 Tour Calendar

ST PETERSBURG, FL, USA - The Women's Tennis Association (WTA) has released its calendar for the 2018 season. The 45th anniversary of the WTA will see players compete at 55 tournaments and four Grand Slams across 32 countries.

The changes for the 2018 season include the Japan Women's Open Tennis event, an International-level tournament, relocating to Hiroshima from Tokyo. Additionally, the Qatar Total Open (Doha) will return to Premier 5 status with the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships returning to a Premier event; and the Rogers Cup will shift locations to Montreal from Toronto. In both cases, the calendar switches from year to year, with Doha and Dubai alternating Premier 5 status and the Rogers Cup moving between Toronto and Montreal.
