Last June 18, Manuel Lopes Nascimento was elected President of the football federation of Guinée-Bissau. A few days later, on June 22 to be exact, he received a letter on that from the President of the Confederation of African Football, Issa Hayatou. "I want to convey to you, on behalf of the Confederation of African Football, its Executive Committee, and on my own behalf, my warmest congratulations," Issa Hayatou wrote. He states further: "I am confident that your experience will be beneficial to the development of Football in Guinée-Bissau and in Africa as well".

It is now official! The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has a new coach.  He is the Serbian, Milovan Rajevac. The information was published Sunday afternoon by FAF on its official website.
 
The Serbian takes over from Christian Gourcuff, who quit of his own decision at the beginning of April, after expressing the wish to retake a club. Milovan Rajevac will lead in his first official match in the beginning of September when Lesotho will be received at the Mustapha Tchaker stadium of Blida for the sixth and last play day of the AFCON 2017 qualifiers.

Cycling South Africa (SA) has announced the appointment of Ciska Austin as vice president, who was elected at the Cycling SA Council Meeting held in Johannesburg on 11th June 2016.

Ciska Austin has had a long association with cycling in South Africa, which stems back to 2002 when she became actively involved in a cycling club in the Free State. It was there where she became more involved in working with the junior cyclists. Her roles in cycling then progressed to doing administration for some of the bigger cycling teams in South Africa.

Namibia claimed the 2016 COSAFA Castle Cup Plate trophy when they beat Zambia 1-0 in the final at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia on Friday night.

Captain Ronald Ketjijere stroked home a penalty midway through the first half to give the Brave Warriors the Plate title having lost their hold on the Cup this year.

Namibia become the third winners of the Plate competition after Mozambique (2013) and Malawi (2015).

The Bureau of the FIFA Council has today, 24 June 2016, decided to appoint a normalisation committee for the Argentine Football Association (AFA) in accordance with art. 8 par. 2 of the FIFA Statutes. The committee will be in charge of running the daily affairs of the AFA, revising the AFA statutes in order to bring them in line with the current FIFA Standard Statutes, and organising elections accordingly by 30 June 2017 at the latest.

90 years after David Arellano became the first Chilean to score four goals in a Copa America game, Eduardo Vargas became the second. It meant the 26-year-old, who has already played for clubs in six countries, became the first man since Uruguay’s Javier Ambrois to net ten goals in his first ten appearances in the competition. It helped Chile smash Mexico 7-0 to equal their biggest Copa America victory, set against ten-man Venezuela in 1979. Alexis Sanchez was also on target with his 34th goal in 99 internationals, taking him level with Ivan Zamorano as Chile’s joint-second leading marksman, three shy of Marcelo Salas.

Egypt goes red after Ahly wins 38th league title

Cairo giants Al Ahly has strengthened their record by winning the 2015-2016 Egyptian Premier League title for an unprecedented 38th time last Friday. An away win over Ismaily combined with arch rivals Zamalek's draw with El Masry guaranteed the Red Devils the title with two matches to spare.

Ahly raised their tally to 74 points, seven more than rivals Zamalek with only two games to go. The "Red Devils" returned to the podium after losing last year's trophy to none but their rivals in a similar scenario.
