New Competition System Workshop with JBA

TOKYO - FIBA's Regional Office in Asia continued its programme of introducing FIBA's New Competition System to a number of national federations in Asia with a workshop in Japan.

FIBA Regional Director - Asia Hagop Khajirian led a team of FIBA officials from the regional office in taking the administration of the Japan Basketball Association (JBA) through the paces of various elements of the new calendar coming into effect in 2017.

Following a complaint made by Cricket Namibia under the ICC Anti-Racism Code during the ICC Intercontinental Cup fixture between Afghanistan and Namibia played in Greater Noida, India, from 10-12 April 2016, the ICC has announced that a confidential conciliation process has today (Monday) been successfully undertaken by relevant parties from both teams in Edinburgh, and a consensual resolution of the matter achieved.

Last June 18, Manuel Lopes Nascimento was elected President of the football federation of Guinée-Bissau. A few days later, on June 22 to be exact, he received a letter on that from the President of the Confederation of African Football, Issa Hayatou. "I want to convey to you, on behalf of the Confederation of African Football, its Executive Committee, and on my own behalf, my warmest congratulations," Issa Hayatou wrote. He states further: "I am confident that your experience will be beneficial to the development of Football in Guinée-Bissau and in Africa as well".

The second best-scorer on the winning side was Ahmed Afifi with 15 points whilst Metin Toy (17 points) and Kadir Cin (13 points) led the rankings for Turkey.

The EuroLeague Women and EuroCup Women Draws for took place in Freising, Germany on Monday morning

FREISING (EuroLeague Women/EuroCup Women) - The draws for the 2016/17 seasons of Europe's premier women's club competitions - EuroLeague Women and EuroCup Women - were completed in Freising, Germany on Monday morning.

The EuroLeague Women Regular Season sees teams split into two groups of eight, with each team playing the opponents in their group both home and away.

It is now official! The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has a new coach.  He is the Serbian, Milovan Rajevac. The information was published Sunday afternoon by FAF on its official website.
 
The Serbian takes over from Christian Gourcuff, who quit of his own decision at the beginning of April, after expressing the wish to retake a club. Milovan Rajevac will lead in his first official match in the beginning of September when Lesotho will be received at the Mustapha Tchaker stadium of Blida for the sixth and last play day of the AFCON 2017 qualifiers.

Cycling South Africa (SA) has announced the appointment of Ciska Austin as vice president, who was elected at the Cycling SA Council Meeting held in Johannesburg on 11th June 2016.

Ciska Austin has had a long association with cycling in South Africa, which stems back to 2002 when she became actively involved in a cycling club in the Free State. It was there where she became more involved in working with the junior cyclists. Her roles in cycling then progressed to doing administration for some of the bigger cycling teams in South Africa.

South Africa grabbed a fourth COSAFA Castle Cup title with a tense 3-2 victory over Botswana in the 2016 final played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia on Saturday.

This will be the first time the ICC’s annual meetings will take place in Edinburgh, with delegates from over 50 ICC Members expected to attend.

26 June 2016 - The South African Football Association (SAFA) President Dr Danny Jordaan has lauded the young Bafana Bafana squad that won the 2016 Edition of the COSAFA Cup saying the Association’s decision to send the u23 to the tournament had been richly rewarded.

The mostly u23 squad that will take part in the upcoming 2016 Rio Olympics participated in this year’s COSAFA Cup in the Namibian capital of Windhoek and stunned football lovers with their ambitious and direct brand of football which left many football pundits admitting the future of SA football was bright.

Namibia claimed the 2016 COSAFA Castle Cup Plate trophy when they beat Zambia 1-0 in the final at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia on Friday night.

Captain Ronald Ketjijere stroked home a penalty midway through the first half to give the Brave Warriors the Plate title having lost their hold on the Cup this year.

Namibia become the third winners of the Plate competition after Mozambique (2013) and Malawi (2015).

Egypt coach Hector Cuper says it is irrelevant that 2018 World Cup qualifying opponents Ghana humiliated the north Africans three years ago, declaring: "We fear no team."
   
The two countries were placed in Group E with Congo Brazzaville and Uganda when 20 nations were split into five groups this weekend, with the winners going to the finals in Russia.

The Bureau of the FIFA Council has today, 24 June 2016, decided to appoint a normalisation committee for the Argentine Football Association (AFA) in accordance with art. 8 par. 2 of the FIFA Statutes. The committee will be in charge of running the daily affairs of the AFA, revising the AFA statutes in order to bring them in line with the current FIFA Standard Statutes, and organising elections accordingly by 30 June 2017 at the latest.

MUNICH, Germany - FIBA Europe announced on Saturday the seedings for the EuroLeague Women and EuroCup Women draws, which are set to take place on Monday, 27 June 2016 at 11:30 CET in Freising, Germany.

Both draws can be followed live on the respective social media channels, with the EuroLeague Women draw to be streamed live on Facebook and Twitter, and the EuroCup Women draw to be streamed live on Twitter.

90 years after David Arellano became the first Chilean to score four goals in a Copa America game, Eduardo Vargas became the second. It meant the 26-year-old, who has already played for clubs in six countries, became the first man since Uruguay’s Javier Ambrois to net ten goals in his first ten appearances in the competition. It helped Chile smash Mexico 7-0 to equal their biggest Copa America victory, set against ten-man Venezuela in 1979. Alexis Sanchez was also on target with his 34th goal in 99 internationals, taking him level with Ivan Zamorano as Chile’s joint-second leading marksman, three shy of Marcelo Salas.

Cairo giants Al Ahly has strengthened their record by winning the 2015-2016 Egyptian Premier League title for an unprecedented 38th time last Friday. An away win over Ismaily combined with arch rivals Zamalek's draw with El Masry guaranteed the Red Devils the title with two matches to spare.

Ahly raised their tally to 74 points, seven more than rivals Zamalek with only two games to go. The "Red Devils" returned to the podium after losing last year's trophy to none but their rivals in a similar scenario.
