The public ballot entry system for the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon opens to all applicants tomorrow (Monday 1 May) and closes at 17.00 on Friday 5 May.
The ballot will again be open for five days to give everyone who would like to enter the event a fair chance to do so. UK applications for the 2017 event reached a record 253,930 and high demand is again anticipated for the 2018 race, which will take place on Sunday 22 April 2018. And they’re off! Virgin Sport burst onto the scene with their first Festival of Fitness on Hackney Marshes on Sunday 30th April. The Festival of Fitness was a unique experience encompassing the Hackney Half, a new 5.5k run on closed roads and free fitness for all on the Marshes. The ‘Go Fit Yourself’ fitness stage hosted some of London’s most sought after instructors, including: Faisal Abdalla, Fat Buddha Yoga, Bradley Simmonds, and Shona Vertue, as well as an early morning dance session with Daybreaker. The Festival was alive with art, culture, music and positive energy as the crowds ran, cheered, moved and grooved at the sun-soaked festival.

The top seed at the 2017 McDan West African Tennis Open lived up to expectations when France based Togolese Thomas Sethodji qualified for the Men’s final to face Felix Hounkpevi from Benin.
Sethodji says his grand mum comes from Ghana and calling on Ghanaians to come out and cheer him at the final. ![]()

The 2017 IAAF Diamond League starts next week and the traditional opening meeting in Doha has assembled some of the sport’s top stars to get proceedings underway for the eighth year of the series. The IAAF is also happy to announce the return of the Fantasy Diamond League. As in previous years, the 2017 edition follows the athletes who compete in the 32 event disciplines at the 14 meetings of the IAAF Diamond League this year. The chairman of the adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee, Hans-Joachim Eckert, has provisionally banned Richard K. Lai, the President of the Guam Football Association, for a duration of 90 days. The duration of the ban may be extended for an additional period not exceeding 45 days. During this time, the above-mentioned individual is banned from all football activities at both national and international level. The ban comes into force immediately.

FIFA can today confirm that sanctions have been imposed by its Disciplinary Committee on several football associations for incidents involving, among others, unsporting and discriminatory conduct by fans during recent 2018 FIFA World Cup™ qualifying matches. Albania has been fined CHF 100,000 for a series of incidents during the match Italy vs Albania, including the use of pyrotechnics by the Albania fans which led to the suspension of the match for several minutes. Italy has been fined CHF 15,000 for incidents that occurred during the same match. ![]()
TENERIFE (Basketball Champions League) - Jordan Theodore, the player of Banvit, has been awarded the title of Most Valuable Player of the 2016-17 Basketball Champions League Season.
The 27-year-old American, who grew up in Englewood, New Jersey, has had a tremendous season with Banvit. Best passer of the Basketball Champions League competition (with an average of 7.7 assists per game), he's also the 4th best scorer (16.2 points per game). Sierra Leonean born teenager, Trevoh Chalobah helped fire Chelsea Youth U-18 side to secure their fourth consecutive F.A Youth Cup thanks to 6-2 aggregate victory over Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Chalobah who was born in England by a Sierra Leonean parent and is eligible to play for Sierra Leone opened the scoring just after six minutes before Ike Ugbo’s acrobatic strike put the hosts firmly in control. Team Augustine Thorpe defeated Albert Kpundeh on Wednesday as they maintained their 100% unbeaten record to lift this year’s Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) female T20 tournament trophy. Wednesday’s four runs victory over Albert Kpundeh was the icing on the cake for the Team Thorpe ladies are they won all four of their matches in the competition. |
