MLS fans are well acquainted with Chris Wondolowski, but with seven goals in his first eight games this season, the Earthquakes forward is off to another incredible start as he looks to show U.S. Soccer boss Jurgen Klinsmann that he deserves a spot on the Copa America Centenario roster this summer.

If he continues this torrid pace, Wondo could once again be staring history straight in the face. He is on track to surpass his 2010 Golden Boot campaign, which started with six goals in eight games, and on pace with the historic 2012 season in which he tied Roy Lassiter’s single-season record of 27 goals, earning the 2012 MLS MVP award in the process.

Lions head coach Johan Ackermann has admitted that Malcolm Marx and Julian Redelinghuys are two injury worries from Saturday’s win over the Stormers.

Marx now joins the other Lions hooker Robbie Coetzee on the sidelines, leaving Armand van der Merwe as the Lions’ only specialist option left in the number two jersey in their initial Super Rugby squad.

Ackermann had planned to rotate both players for next week’s clash against the Kings, making the injuries all the more frustrating, and he praised Marx’s good form since the 21-year-old’s promotion to the starting line-up.

Klusener was let go as coach in February, even though there were still matches to be played, and he confirmed to Cricinfo on Tuesday that he had filed a complaint with the CCMA.

The Uzbek Tigers were once again able to show their burgeoning WSB prowess on Saturday night as the new franchise repeated their impressive Quarter-Final first-leg performance in Russia with another 3-2 away win to take their place in the Semi-Finals. The 6-4 aggregate result sets up what could be the match of the season so far against a Cuba Domadores side that booked its place in the next round with a convincing win over Mexico Guerreros in Havana.

Saturday’s opening bout assumed huge importance with both sides looking to establish some precious momentum, and the responsabilitiy for the hosts fell to flyweight Viacheslav Tashkarakov, in for Karen Arutunian, against the Uzbek’s in-form AIBA Asia and Oceania Olympic Qualification Event winner Shakhobiddin Zoirov. The Tigers’ gifted 22-year-old boxed freely for a man making his WSB debut, using his greater speed to launch waves of counter-attacks that saw Zoirov win all five rounds against the Russian veteran and set the visitors on their way.
